(TUIN, Mr. Koert "Corky" Of Kalamazoo. Died Tuesday morning, September 10, 2002 at his residence. Koert was born November 13, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the son of William and Harriet (Sportel) Tuin, and had been a lifelong resident in Kalamazoo. He was employed at Superior Typesetting Service for 15 years before retiring in 1982. Previous to that he was employed with Master-Craft Corp. and Doubleday-Hunt-Dolan Company for 16 years as a Compositor and Printing Department Foreman. Corky was an avid sportsman and had been active in the Y.M.C.A. church league baseball program for many years. After that he became a member of a golf league for 30 years. He enjoyed getting together with friends to sing and play Country and Gospel music. Koert was also a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry; and 5 sisters, Wilhelmina Medema, Theresa Gatwood, Jeanette Brininger, Wilma VandenBerg, and Irene Sipsma. Surviving are a sister-in-law and special friend, Ida Tuin; and many nieces and nephews. In accordance with his wishes a private graveside service will be held in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Friday from 12:30 to 2:30 at the LANGELAND Family Funeral Homes MEMORIAL CHAPEL 622 S. (Mrs. Evelyn (Evey) SPORTEL, 5271 Ravine Rd., Died Saturday morning December 21, 1996. Mrs. SPORTEL was born February 17, 1921 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Thomas and Anna (HAAN) TRIEMSTRA and was a life resident of this community. She was a very active member of the Second Christian Reformed Church where she helped in the kitchen and also provided transportation for seniors to church. She had been employed for many years in local grocery stores in the meat department and retired in 1986 from Town & County Market now know n as Hardings Market. She was united in marriage on June 14, 1949 to Egbert SPORTEL who preceded her in death on May 31, 1981. Surviving are two brothers, two sisters, and spouses, Bert and Grace TRIEMSTRA of Kalamazoo, Sinnie and Marvin VLIETSTRA of Paw Paw, Mildred and Jim MCGEE and Alvin TRIEMSTRA all of Kalamazoo; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth TACOMA, Henry G. and Louise SPORTEL, Connie and John VISSER all of Kalamazoo, Adrian and Wilma SPORTEL of Scotts, Ronald and Garilyn SPORTEL of Kalamazoo and numerous nieces and nephews. Services for Mrs. SPORTEL will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3013 Nichols Rd. with Pastor Harvey Ouwinga and Pastor Kenneth Slager officiating. Interment in Mt. Ever-Rest North Cemetery. Friends may meet the family at the Langeland Memorial Chapel, 622 South Burdick, A Trust 100 Chapel this evening from 7-9 pm, and Monday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
